HOCHTIEF Construction Austria was able to win contract section 3.3 for the reactivation
of the “Reactivation of the Tullner Westschleife”, as the leading engineering partner within
a bidding consortium.
This includes extensive urban demolition works and the construction of numerous
new small structures. In addition, the “Tulln Stadt” (Tulln Town) wheelchair
accessible stop, spanning 200 m in length, as well as an underpass, which is realized
as a white tank construction (watertight tank), are developed in the “Frauentorgasse”.
In the “Wiener Straße” the consortium is constructing three pre-stressed
triple span bridges with a respective truss length of 58 m, as well as a subjacent
traffic circle with a diameter of 47 m. Due to the poor ground conditions, the trusses
as well as the directly adjacent supporting walls, spanning up to 200 m in length,
are built on 195 large bored piles with an overall length of 1,600 m.
North of the Danube, embankment dam widening works are carried out. For this purpose,
among other things the lateral movement of two existing armored concrete trusses
and accordingly a widening of the structure on existing abutments is required.
In order to ensure that the construction work causes as little disturbance to the
residents as possible, extensive measures against noise and vibrations have been
taken.
Urban constraints and confined available space influence the day-to-day business
and at the same time make high demands on logistics. The construction site can often
only be supplied with building materials “just in time”.
