HOCHTIEF Construction Austria
HOCHTIEF Construction has been operating in Austria through a business unit since
2005.
In 2007, after the acquisition of a number of major projects, HOCHTIEF Construction
Austria was established as an independent national company. It is a wholly owned
subsidiary of HOCHTIEF Construction AG.
Since 2008 HOCHTIEF Construction Austria constitutes the competence center for underground
and road construction within the HOCHTIEF Construction AG. With this the company
also offers its know-how in-house at home and abroad.
Chronicle of HOCHTIEF
The history of HOCHTIEF, the largest construction company in Germany,
dates back to the 19th century.
The company was founded in 1874 by the brothers Helfmann near Frankfurt on the Main.
In 1896 it was transformed into a corporation for structural and civil engineering
works, and virtually at the same time the first foreign order was already received.

With the invention of reinforced concrete HOCHTIEF was able to advance its successful
development further. Already in 1922 the company headquarters were relocated to
Essen. After the reconstruction works of the Second World War and the economic recovery
associated with it, HOCHTIEF established itself worldwide. Today the group is an
international construction service provider and covers the entire range of construction
and the services associated with it.
